Linux & Unix Consultancy

For over eight years we have been using Linux and other open source products in various aspects of our business, as well as advising others on their use. We firmly believe Open Source Software (OSS) can provide organisations, not just a competitive advantage in direct cost terms, but also very often simply a better way of working.

The maturity of Linux and many of the server and client applications for Linux has lead to an increasingly global acceptance of the platform.

For objective advice on Open Source, how it might be adopted, migration, and the business implications of doing so, we provide knowlege-on-tap consultancy services. We can also offer specific and specialist support to systems based on Linux platforms. We have detailed knowledge of :

Linux configuration
DNS including BIND and MyDNS
MTAs including Sendmail and Exim
Web services including Apache, ApacheSSL and various modules
File services such as Samba for serving Windows clients
Databases including MySQL

We offer hourly rates and day rates and are happy to project manage or act in an advisory capacity to a working group. We enter any discussion with no fixed or preconcieved ideas and do not describe ourselves as Open Source zealots. We like OSS because in general it solves problems. This does not mean we are blind to the benefits of some closed source operating systems and applications.
