Miscellany Rather than put up a links page, like so many sites do, we thought we'd provide a page of stuff we've genuinely found to be useful. Starting with a guide to the local pubs that we have sampled since moving to the area! Edenbridge - The Swan Being the first pub you see going to Edenbridge from the A25, this was the first pub we tried while we were cabling the building. A good 'first try' it was too. Providing very quick service and decent (if somewhat basic) food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff also help make this a pleasant place to grab half an hour at lunch time. Edenbridge - Ye Old Crown Situated in Edenbridge highstreet with carpark accessible from the back of the co-op behind, the Crown offers a reasonable variety of food at (mostly) reasonable prices. The food is of a high standard, and even complicated food is served quite quickly. Using a pub curry ("Curry of the day") as the yardstick, we were not disappointed. Steak baguettes were equally impressive. Their chips are good. Drink is not extortionately priced either. Edenbridge - The White Horse Rather a puzzling pub, this. Completely empty when we went in. The staff were friendly though and drinks were inexpensive. We got the feeling that food was not this pub's major offering. Having said that bacon sandwiches were not bad, and were very cheap. If you just want a drink and are in Edenbridge highstreet, then this might be ok - if you want food best pop into Ye Old Crown a few doors down! Crockham Hill - The Royal Oak This feels more of an evening pub than a lunchtime pub. This might be because it felt particularly "right" when we went there in the evening (and not because of any problems at lunchtime). The food was decent and fairly straightforward. Prices seemed a bit steep, but compared to other pubs probably are only slightly above average. Staff were friendly and accepted my signature instead of my PIN! Marsh Green - The Wheatsheaf A fancy menu and very decent food at acceptable prices. Somewhat pricey for drinks. Yes, we did end up paying a few quid to eat here, but a lemon and ginger Thai style stir fry, along with some of the more more traditional "pie and chips" type food proved it was worth it. Staff were friendly but slightly "off hand". Perhaps they were having a bad day! We enjoyed our visit though and will certainly return. Hever - The Greyhound Four Elms - The Four Elms Chiddingstone Causeway - The Little Brown Jug Bough Beech - The Wheatsheaf Goathurst Common - The Woodman Westerham - George & Dragon Oxted - The Oxted Inn Brasted - The Bull Inn
